2015 Platform Survey

Good ideas require collaboration and input from a variety of sources. Help shape our focus by taking this short survey about our 2015 draft platform. The first 3 questions will ask you to rank your top 3 ideas from the platform. The last question is your opportunity to suggest an issue related to Philadelphia's built environment that we're missing. We will survey the responses and evaluate and update if there are any popular areas of focus we didn't capture. Thanks for your help in building a bright, inclusive future in Philadelphia politics.

Q: What issues do you feel are missing from our platform ?
A: Reform the electoral system to allow for greater dialogue during elections and participation by all residents of the City. Instant run off voting is used in municipalities such as San Francisco, CA, Cambridge, MA, and Portland, ME to help encourage more participation in elections by allowing a greater variety of viewpoints to be aired without causing candidates to be “spoilers.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting & http://www.fairvote.org/reforms/instant-runoff-voting/

Q: What issues do you feel are missing from our platform ?
A: - Support for Green City, Clean Waters from the next Mayor and Council. Green infrastructure is and can be a transformation element in creating or revitalizing green spaces, adding to the tree canopy, mitigating flooding and of course keeping pollutants out of the sources of our drinking water. High level support must continue through the next administration, from appointing supportive Commissioners who will expand or create new ways implement projects to increasing requirements on private developers
    - Climate Change and Resiliency- We’re already seeing the impacts of climate change, and will undoubtedly have to start making significant land use changes- such as buying out swaths of neighborhoods where homes repeatedly flood. The next Mayor must take this challenge seriously before the next Hurricane Sandy
