Good ideas require collaboration and input from a variety of sources. Help shape our focus by taking this short survey about our 2015 draft platform. The first 3 questions will ask you to rank your top 3 ideas from the platform. The last question is your opportunity to suggest an issue related to Philadelphia's built environment that we're missing. We will survey the responses and evaluate and update if there are any popular areas of focus we didn't capture. Thanks for your help in building a bright, inclusive future in Philadelphia politics.

A: Improved urban design and amenities alone do not a livable, sustainable city make. There is a large gap in this platform in addressing the widespread poverty and crime in our city (something that I feel the urban planning community seems to tune out more often than not). It’s a massive issue, and the city isnt going to improve holistically unless it is addressed. Many of these recommendations are ideal, but city budgets are finite. Rethinking the tax structure is worthwhile no doubt, but the new structure values business over residents, particularly low-income residents, the problems of crime and blight will only expand. Last, a political movement that focuses on new, shiny feel-good policies without taking a broad, realistic look at the diverse constituents of the city and the very deep-rooted needs in many of our communities will be severely limited in its appeal. Great start, but I think you guys can do better.
