"5th Square is encouraged by Mayor Parker's efforts to streamline the process of building housing in Philadelphia. Given the scale of the housing crisis across the country, we hope that members of the city council will move quickly to introduce and adopt the legislation proposed including removing parking requirements, reforming restrictive zoning overlays, and streamlining the process of land acquisition for the City's Land Bank. In particular, removing parking requirements in transit-rich areas of the city will not only bring down housing costs for buyers but will also help to reduce congestion and traffic accidents. We urge the council to introduce these bills as soon as possible," says Brennan Maragh, co-chair of 5th Square's Housing Committee.
