The city is hosting a public open house next Wednesday, July 20th to discuss possibilities for streetscape improvements, and we need supporters of safer walking and biking there to weigh in.
The Office of Transportation and Utilities (OTIS) received a federal TIGER grant to make changes to American Street between Girard and Indiana, and this public meeting will help decide what those improvements will be.
This week the Bicycle Coalition shared an image of the crazy-wide 36-foot vehicle lanes and 17-foot sidewalks on American Street, driving home the point that this street is not human-scale.
South Kensington residents deserve better and we can have a safer, more manageable street if enough people show up to ask for it.
Share this event with some friends from the neighborhood, and we'll see you Wednesday!
