We're encouraging our subscribers who want to get more involved in their neighborhoods to consider running for the smallest political office that matters this spring: Committee person seats.
Until March 10th, 2026, you can download a petition, collect a few dozen signatures from your neighbors, and get on the ballot to serve your community as a Democratic or Republican committee person (5th Square is a non-partisan organization).
If you're planning on running, or if you're just interested in getting more information from us, sign up on our Google form and we'll send you a LinkTree link this week with all the information you need to run a winning campaign: petition form, voter walk lists, how-to guides, important dates, etc.

As a Political Action Committee focused on housing and transportation, so much of our work happens at the neighborhood level in Philadelphia. Having urbanists in neighborhood organization leadership positions in registered community organizations and political wards is one of our organization's greatest assets. This election season has some important opportunities for that -- and these seats only come up once every FOUR years.
When more committee people are also 5th Square supporters, we elect more representatives that support urbanist positions. Two committee people can win in each voting division. You can look up your division on Atlas and navigate to the Voting tab.
In some wards, we can help connect you with the ward leader or committee people who can tell you more about your local situation.
