5th Square, Philly's urbanist PAC and advocacy organization, hosts meet-ups as a way to connect our volunteers, supporters, and new people interested in getting involved.
At our March meet-up, we are honored to host special guests from the Mayor's Office of Transportation, Infrastructure, & Sustainability:
- Chris Puchalsky, Director of Policy & Strategic Initiatives
- Andrew Simpson, Transit Policy Planner
They will introduce us to the new City Transit Plan which details a vision for our region’s transit system going forward to 2045. We here at 5th Square are thrilled by this new plan which calls for investments and policy changes that prioritize transit reliability, mobility and equity, while reducing our region’s contribution to climate change in car usage and helping power the region’s economic recovery from the pandemic.
Read more about the new transit plan here:
Time permitting, we will have a discussion of how the City's goals align with 5th Square's vision for a more equitable, accessible and sustainable region, and a short Q&A session.
These meet-ups are casual social gatherings, and are intended as a fun way for new and existing supporters to connect with other people involved with 5th Square and urbanist issues in Philadelphia, either professionally or in a volunteer/activist capacity, and learn more about what our all-volunteer organization is up to. If you've been meaning to check out one of our events or meetings but haven't made it out yet, this will be a good first one to come to. And please bring a friend or two!
