๐Ÿ“› MEETUP THIS THURSDAY

Join 5th Square organizers and volunteers for an informal, in-person meet-up in West Philly this Thursday at 6 PM. This is an indoor/outdoor, family-friendly event where we will provide updates on our recent campaigns and talk about what's in store as we start to wrap up 2021.

These meet-ups are casual social gatherings, and are intended as a fun way for new and existing supporters to connect with other people involved with 5th Square and urbanist issues in Philadelphia, either professionally or in a volunteer/activist capacity, and learn more about what our all-volunteer organization is up to. If you've been meaning to check out one of our events or meetings but haven't made it out yet, this will be a good first one to come to. And please bring a friend or two!

๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ ACTION: SUPPORT A SAFER WASHINGTON AVE!

Demand a safer Washington Avenue. Sign the petition written and sponsored by a growing number of South Philadelphia Community Organizations urging the City to proceed with safety improvements.

We support the responses from the community living in the area, who have already voiced overwhelming support for the proposal.

This is a social justice issue, given that both nationwide and here in Philly, older adults, people of color, and people walking in low-income communities are disproportionately represented in fatal crashes involving people walking.

๐ŸšŒ BUS SURVEY CANVASSING EVENTS

Volunteer with 5th Square and Transit Forward Philadelphia as we survey bus riders as part of our Better Buses campaign.

All volunteers will receive a FREE 5th Square Sweatshirt!

THIS FRIDAY: Join us in South Philly at Whitman Plaza, 11/19, 2-6 PM.

ON SUNDAY: Join us in West Philly at 50th & Parkside Loop, Behind the Lowe's, 11/21, 2-6 PM.

๐Ÿ’ WORLD DAY OF REMEMBERANCE EVENT

Join the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and Family For Safes Streets of Greater Philadelphia and others as we demand an end to traffic violence.

On Sunday, November 21, we will be honoring those lost to traffic violence over the past year -- pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Join Families for Safe Streets for the 2021 World Day of Remembrance at Cobbs Creek.

This event will begin at the Cobbs Creek Recreation Center. This demonstration will start at 11:00 am and will involve a half-mile walk, bike, and any other modes of active transportation down to the Cobbs Creek Community Environmental Center where we will have guest speakers and families who have been affected by this issue, address Vision Zero PHL initiatives and share their stories about their loved one(s).
