Become a member for as little as $5 a month to be able to help shape our candidate slate in this year's state legislative primaries. This is the crux of what we do as an all-volunteer Urbanist Political Action Committee. Pennsylvania's primary is early this year on April 28th because of the Presidential election, and candidates running for state office will be on the ballot too.

5th SQUARE NEWS
The Temple News reported on the reaction of North Central Philadelphia residents to Mayor Kenney's pledge to bring back citywide street sweeping by 2023. They cited our efforts to bring this about by opposing the pilot which required crews with harmful backpack blowers. We will continue to hold the mayor to his promise and let's shed our 'Filthadelphia' moniker once and for all!
Check out Grid Magazine's latest bike talk featuring 5th Square member Aaron Bauman's Twitter bot @HowsMyDrivingPA that looks up outstanding PPA violations for any given license plate tag number. Bauman says he created the bot to fight against Philadelphia “politicians’ general attitude of car supremacy and embrace of toxic car culture.” Strong work Aaron!
Chestnut Street in Center City is a mess due to pedestrians, cyclists, delivery trucks, buses and private cars all jockeying for limited street space. A conversation about who should have priority in this densest of urban streets springs eternal. This was brought back in the news with a new petition by local activist, Jeff Stern, following our lead and demanding Philly to follow NYC's lead and 'Cancel Cars on Chestnut'. We couldn't agree more!
