🚇 UPCOMING BLVD SUBWAY MEETINGS

Want to get more involved in advocating for the Roosevelt Blvd Subway? There will be three upcoming meetings in November and December which will be a great opportunity to make your voice heard. We'll also be handing out some free swag to supporters at these meetings, so don't miss it!

The first meeting will be a town hall meeting on 11/28 hosted by PA State Representatives Gallagher, Hohenstein, and Solomon as well as Councilman Driscoll. This is a great opportunity to solidify the Northeast's support for this critical project and we need you to help us show up and demonstrate just how strong our movement is.

The other two meetings will be open house sessions on 12/4 and 12/14 hosted by PennDOT, in collaboration with the City of Philadelphia and SEPTA, focused on Roosevelt Boulevard. PennDOT representatives will be discussing interim improvements and selecting transportation alternatives for Roosevelt Boulevard. Join us to convince PennDOT to move forward with the Blvd Subway!

Show your support at these meetings with our brand new Blvd Subway hoodies! Pick one up for $50 with free shipping.

💔 A HEARTBREAKING RECORD

This past week, Philadelphia reached a heartbreaking milestone as Kevin Saint Clair was killed while biking on Henry Ave and became the 10th bicyclist killed in 2023, more than any other year on record.

Kevin is one of the 100+ who have tragically died this year in traffic collisions on Philadelphia's streets. The Bicycle Coalition will be honoring Kevin and the many others who have lost their lives on Philadelphia's streets on 11/19 as part of World Day of Remembrance.

🚧 LEARN ABOUT STREET PAVING

This Friday, 11/17 at 12 PM via Zoom., StreetBoxPHL, with 5th Square as a presenting partner, will be hosting the next session of the monthly Right-of-Way Roundtable Series.

This session's theme is: Digging into Paving - Demystifying how paving happens and dreaming about about how it could.

StreetBoxPHL will be hosting Steve Lorenz (Chief Highway Engineer) and Kelley Yemen (Office of Complete Streets) to talk about paving and helping us consider how we can get to a world where we can consistently and at scale coordinate street improvements with paving (or if that's a fool's mission).

Sounds interesting? RSPV now!

🎉 CONGRATS TO ELECTION WINNERS

Election season is officially over—congrats to all the winners, particularly the eight candidates we endorsed, all of whom won their elections!

We wish them all the best of luck and we look forward to working with them to implement solutions to the issues facing our city.

💸 SUPPORT SEPTA FUNDING

SEPTA is facing an urgent fiscal cliff which may see drastic service cuts and higher fares. Fortunately, the Pennsylvania House passed HB 1219 which would increase the portion of sales tax that is allocated to public transit funding without increasing the tax itself.

This bill still needs to pass the State Senate, so contact you legislator to ensure SEPTA gets the funding it needs!

There are two pieces of legislation in Harrisburg that would allow automated speed enforcement and parking protected bike lanes. Please send a message to your state senator to ask that they prioritize passing two bills in 2023 to protect the lives of vulnerable road users
