5th Square Calls on SEPTA to Provide Employee Death Benefits for COVID-19 Victims

We are joining the call of Transport Workers United Local 234 for SEPTA to provide workers’ compensation and contractual death benefits for any employee who dies from exposure to COVID-19. New York City Transit workers already receive this benefit and it is time for SEPTA to follow suit. 

The recent loss of seven SEPTA employees due to COVID-19 is heartbreaking and our thoughts are with their families, friends, and colleagues during this challenging time.

What SEPTA's front-line workers have done during this pandemic is nothing short of heroic and the agency needs to recognize their sacrifice.
